What does your role as a Cover Supervisor look like?
A Cover Supervisor is a valued member of school staff responsible for overseeing students in the absence of their regular teacher. When teaching staff are away on a short-term basis, Cover Supervisors step in to supervise classes, ensuring pupils stay focused and engaged with the pre-set work provided by the absent teacher. While this role does not involve lesson planning, marking, or direct teaching, it plays a vital part in maintaining consistency and a productive learning environment throughout the school day.
Roles and Responsibilities of a Cover Supervisor:
- Delivering and supervising lessons across a variety of subjects in the absence of teaching staff
- Managing classroom behaviour in accordance with the school’s policies and expectations
- Ensuring students remain focused and complete the work set by the teacher
- Promoting a positive and respectful learning environment while serving as a strong role model for students
- Working across a variety of subjects and year groups from KS3 to KS4.Â
What we are looking for:
- Proven experience working with young people in educational, coaching, tutoring, or mentoring settings
- A positive, professional attitude with a flexible and proactive approach
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage behaviour effectively
- An enhanced DBS on the update service (or the willingness to obtain one).
