We're looking for an empathetic and motivated Secondary Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school, supporting students with mild Special Educational Needs (SEN) in their designated provision. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with classroom or care experience who wants to develop their career in education.

The Role:
  • Supporting students aged 11-16 with mild SEN, including learning difficulties, social communication needs, or emotional challenges.

  • Working within the school's designated SEN provision to deliver tailored interventions.

  • Assisting in small groups or 1:1 sessions, helping students access the curriculum.

  • Encouraging independence, self-confidence, and social skills.

  • Supporting the class teacher with differentiated resources and strategies.

  • Building positive relationships with students to promote engagement and learning.

  • Collaborating with SENCO, teachers, and other support staff to deliver high-quality inclusive education.

Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • Experience working with children or young people (school, youth work, care, SEN, coaching, tutoring).

  • Calm, patient, and understanding approach.

  • Ability to build rapport quickly and maintain clear boundaries.

  • Confident supporting learning in literacy, numeracy, and life skills.

  • Flexible and adaptable to meet individual student needs.

  • Knowledge of SEND strategies or willingness to learn (e.g. Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, SEMH).

  • Relevant qualifications (Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Psychology degree, Youth Work) desirable but not essential.
