Major recruitment are currently recruiting for a Class 1 Shunter Driver to join our well-established client based in Warrington. This is a fantastic opportunity to work for a well-known supplier of household goods with plenty of ongoing work available.

Daily duties will consist of but are not limited to:-

  • Safely positioning trailers / vehicles in a timely manner as requested by the Control Room.
  • Ensuring the yard area, including entry and exit points, vehicle wash, weighbridge, fuel islands and walkways, are managed in order for both vehicles and pedestrians to move freely and safely within the yard area.
  • Promoting best practice.
  • Challenge and report on any non-compliance.
  • Drive company shunt vehicles in a safe and courteous fashion in accordance with the requirements of the site rules
  • Report any vehicle accidents to the traffic office
  • Report any mechanical defects
  • Fuel vehicles and when required to undertake normal collection and delivery duties
  • Take all responsible action to ensure the safety and security of vehicles, equipment and goods
  • Carry out daily vehicle checks following procedure laid down
  • To ensure the safe and efficient movement of vehicles between parking bays and loading bays

Essential Skills

  • Terburg experience is a MUST
  • Must have held licence minimum 12 months
  • No more than 6 penalty points and no major endorsement codes.
  • Must be able to speak and read a certain level of English.
  • Experience operating various trailer types.
  • Punctuality and excellent time keeping skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Flexibility and availability to work overtime as and when required.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience driving any commercial vehicles would be beneficial.
