LXP Specialists are seeking a dedicated and passionate SEN Teacher to work on a temporary basis within a local special school.

We welcome applications from ECT's and more experienced professionals.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with KS1 learners with autism.

The school is ideally based close to the M62, M6 and within easy walking distance from their closest train station.

The successful applicant will possess strong communication skills, behaviour management techniques, and experience in specialised areas such as speech therapy, special education, or applied behaviour analysis.

Duties

  • Support children with diverse learning needs, including those requiring speech therapy or special education support.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies to promote positive behaviour and create a conducive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and specialists to monitor student progress and adapt teaching methods accordingly.
  • Mentor students to develop social skills, confidence, and independence through constructive guidance.

Skills

  • Proven experience in teaching across various age groups, particularly KS1 and / or preschool settings.
  • Strong knowledge of speech therapy techniques, special education practices, and applied behaviour analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Skilled in behaviour management strategies to foster positive classroom environments.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs and learning styles.
  • Childcare experience with toddlers or pre-schoolers is highly desirable.
  • Ability to mentor students effectively while maintaining professional boundaries.
