Job Title: Management Accountant
Location: Warwick/Hybrid (2 days in-office days per month in Warwick - Occasional travel to Bristol may be required, but not regularly)
Day Rate: 400 - 450 per day (Via Umbrella, inside IR35)

6 Months (potential to extend)

Our client, a leading organisation in the UK utilities sector, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Management Accountant to join their finance team based in Warwick. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with strong SAP and SOX experience to contribute to a high-performing team in a regulated environment.

About the Role: As an Management Accountant, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records across the business. You will be responsible for managing month-end close processes, supporting external audits, and driving continuous improvement in financial operations and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of journals and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Lead on process improvement for transitioned work from Bristol.
  • Ensure accuracy and quality of financial data and reporting.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and offshore providers as needed.
  • Support the team during month-end close and other key financial cycles.
  • Review and improve end-to-end financial processes and internal controls.
  • Act as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders and offshore service providers.
  • Support and mentor junior team members, including graduates and apprentices.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX controls and internal financial policies.
  • Maintain and refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and support process optimisation initiatives.

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in a shared service finance function.
  • Proficiency in SAP (S4 HANA preferred).
  • Strong understanding of SOX compliance and internal control frameworks.
  • Solid experience in month-end accounting and financial reporting.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to interpret and present financial data.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience in regulated industries such as utilities is desirable.
  • Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent).
  • Experience in process transitions (e.g., moving work between teams or locations) is a plus.
  • Comfortable working independently and taking initiative.
