A fantastic opportunity has arisen at a specialist engineering business as a Service Engineer (with an electrical bias). However, this isn't a standard service engineer job; instead, this is an opportunity to take on a diverse role combining machinery assembly and hands-on problem-solving. You will be a key part of the team, understanding the requirements of a client, helping to build prototype machines for testing, troubleshooting and then ultimately building the machine for the end client. You will then take responsibility for commissioning the machine on-site at the client's site. So there is plenty of variety in the role!!
This role is working for a smaller business, so it means that your input and efforts are truly valued and you are most certainly not just another cog in a corporate machine!! The role reports into the Engineering manager and you will be given the opportunity to provide input into proposals, help with problem-solving and ultimately help deliver the best product to the end client. Â
We are seeking someone with electrical knowledge and experience who can understand wiring, schematics and technical drawings. Â
In terms of key activities within this role:
- Building, wiring, and testing electro-mechanical machinery in-house
- Producing documentation, from electrical drawings to safety evaluations
- Supporting with component repair and internal technical meetings
- Commissioning new products and performing installations and repairs
- Delivering training and handovers to customers
- Carrying out pre-planned and occassional service visits to customer sites across the UK
What the ideal Service Engineer would have:
- A relevant electrical qualification
- 18th Edition Certification (BS 7671:2018)
- Understanding of Machinery Regulations & BS standards
- Hands-on mechanical skills
