Programme Manager

Duration - 6 Months with scope to extend

Location - Warwick/Hybrid

About the role

This role will sit within the Programme Delivery team of Transformation and Major Projects and will be part of the flexible central pool of Programme and Project professionals who will be deployed to support major deliveries. The post holder will be allocated to a programme in the client's portfolio to support its initiation or path back to green, postings will likely last 6 to 9 months. While the requirements will be flexible it is likely that the post holder will be responsible for all aspects of programme management reporting to the accountable SME. This will include Planning, Risks, Dependencies, Reporting etc. A successful candidate will need to demonstrate experience of leading in a variety of different programmes and be prepared to be flexible with work assignments.

The position holder can be based in Warwick, and we continue to offer hybrid working from office and home. We are open to full time and part time applicants, as well as flexible working arrangements.

Key Accountabilities

  • Preparation and maintenance of the Programme Plan with regular progress reports
  • Designing and Leading the programme's governance arrangements, supporting and feeding into programme and executive governance ensuring materials are high quality
  • Managing the programme's budget - monitoring expenditure and costs against delivered and realised benefits and managing the budget forecast
  • Ensuring the appropriate allocation of skills and resources to individual workstreams
  • Ensuring the products and services delivered from workstreams meet the required standards for quality, time and budget
  • Managing communications with stakeholders and inputting into the Communications Plan
  • Managing dependencies and interfaces between projects
  • Managing risks and issues at a programme level - including working closely with the Third Party Partners, IT team and other key stakeholders to ensure optimum solutions
  • Overseeing the delivery of business change holistically, covering changes to people, processes and technology
  • Managing an effective Programme Management Office
  • Reporting programme progress at regular intervals
  • Contract Management of Primary Third Party (if being utilised) delivery partner and acting as the first point of escalation

  • Experience in both waterfall and agile environments

  • Good knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling programmes
  • Good knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures
  • Comfortable working with and challenging senior executive stakeholders when required
