Job Overview

The Planner will support the delivery of a Smart Meter rollout programme by creating, maintaining, and optimising schedules to ensure work is delivered efficiently, safely, and in line with client expectations. The role requires close collaboration with internal teams, clients, and field operations to coordinate resources, manage timelines, and maintain smooth project execution from planning through to completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains detailed schedules for Smart Meter installations.

  • Liaises with internal teams and clients to ensure requirements and standards are met.

  • Attends planning and coordination meetings to monitor progress and resolve issues.

  • Produces accurate project schedules using Microsoft Project or similar tools.

  • Monitors progress, hours, and performance to support efficiency improvements.

  • Coordinates with managers to ensure the right resources are available.

  • Tracks, updates, and closes out work orders and planning logs.

  • Supports continuous improvement of planning and scheduling processes.

  • Communicates with stakeholders, providing updates and highlighting risks or delays.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong planning, scheduling, and organisational abilities.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and Microsoft Project.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • High attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure.

  • Experience in customer-facing or service-focused environments.

  • Self-motivation, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Professional, calm, and adaptable behaviour.

  • Understanding of health, safety, and compliance requirements.

Desirable

  • Experience in utilities, infrastructure, or metering projects.

  • Knowledge of Smart Meter programmes or similar field-based operations.
