Vent Engineering are a specialist in natural and smoke ventilation systems and have been designing, supplying, installing, and commissioning ventilation systems since 1988.

About the role:

Are you a recent graduate looking to kickstart your career in design engineering? We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our specialist and busy Office in Waterlooville. As a Graduate Design Engineer, you will work closely with our Senior Design Engineer, gaining hands-on experience in producing and updating drawings for some of the UK's largest construction projects. Our focus is on smoke ventilation as a specialist sub-contractor.

We are seeking someone who is organised, methodical, with excellent communication skills, and a high attention to detail. This role is suited for a recent graduate background in construction, civil engineering, architecture, or engineering, seeking advancement within a busy, knowledgeable, technical team.

You will be provided with full industry training, and the opportunity for future progression within the design team as the company continues to grow.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Design Office team to comprehend design requirements and project specifications.
  • Utilise CAD and CFD software to generate precise technical drawings, electrical block schematics, and layout plans based on project specifications.
  • Contribute to large-scale construction projects across the UK
  • Collaborate with the project team to develop comprehensive working drawings that can be used for project tender and quotation purposes.
  • Create detailed installation drawings to guide field personnel during project implementation.
  • Ensure that all drawings are accurate, detailed, and align with industry standards.
  • Keep detailed and accurate records in accordance with Design Office procedures.
  • Ensure that all drawings adhere to project timelines and deadlines.

About you:

  • Methodical worker with a high attention to detail.
  • Flexible with good communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage own workload.
  • Proficient in Autodesk AutoCAD (2D) software.
  • Ability to interpret and understand engineering drawings and electrical block schematics.
  • Ability to communicate technical knowledge clearly.
  • Proficient in Windows 10 and Microsoft Office software.
  • Technical writing skills.
  • HNC / HND level in relevant Engineering discipline or AutoCAD. (Desirable)
  • Recent graduate with a background in construction, civil engineering, architecture, or engineering.
