We are seeking a Management Accountant or Bookkeeper, to join our well-regarded client, based in Croxley Business Park in Watford. This role is ideal for a proactive and goal-oriented individual, with a strong background in bookkeeping. The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of accounting tasks, including reconciliations, monthly management accounts preparation, and supporting both the budgeting and annual audit processes. This position is maternity cover and will be on a 13-month FTC. We are looking for someone to start mid-June. Interviews will take place mid-May. 

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the reconciliation of income and commission payments between the policy management database and the accounting system.
  • Assist in the production of monthly management accounts and produce month-end balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Process payments using online banking systems.
  • Develop and provide timely and meaningful management information, including KPIs.
  • Assist with the annual budgeting and planning process as well as ad hoc forecasts.
  • Support cost control, expense management, and ensure compliance with regulations and financial control procedures.
  • Support the preparation of annual financial statements and external audits.
  • Maintain a working understanding of all assigned accounting tasks and assume ownership.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external clients and business partners.
  • Develop an understanding of FCA and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance.
  • Handle complex queries and support colleagues as needed.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and a strong desire to learn and develop within the role.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Recognised accounting qualification (part-qualified considered).
  • Excellent working knowledge of Excel
  • Up-to-date working knowledge of accounting standards and issues gained in a financially regulated environment.
  • Experience with QuickBooks preferred but not essential.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and work to tight deadlines.
  • Highly methodical and process oriented.
  • Commercially aware, pragmatic, self-starter with a high work ethic and goal oriented.
  • Willingness to work as part of a small but growing team and take on increased responsibility as the organisation expands.
