Commercial Finance Director

Location: Hertfordshire (Hybrid)

Salary: £125,000 – £150,000 + Bonus + Benefits

About the Job

This is a high-impact leadership role, offering full oversight of financial performance, planning and strategic finance operations. Working closely with commercial functions, you'll provide critical financial insight, drive profitable decision-making, and lead a capable team in delivering key objectives.

Duties will include:

  • Leading the production of monthly board reports and financial performance packs for senior stakeholders
  • Building and presenting rolling forecasts and strategic financial plans over annual and multi-year horizons
  • Taking complete responsibility for P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reporting, ensuring clarity and accuracy
  • Supporting the month-end close process and delivering timely and comprehensive P&L submissions
  • Advising on and monitoring marketing spend, ensuring alignment with brand performance and ROI expectations
  • Partnering with Sales, Marketing and Trade Marketing teams to align finance with commercial goals
  • Enhancing profitability through customer terms optimisation and margin improvement strategies
  • Overseeing commercial accruals, ensuring robust controls and reliable reporting
  • Challenging commercial performance by customer, brand and stock to highlight opportunities and risk
  • Leading stock simplification programmes and rationalising unprofitable product lines
  • Scrutinising commercial initiatives and investment cases
  • Managing relationships with external partners including banks, FX providers and credit insurers
  • Coaching and developing a high-performing finance team, fostering growth and succession

About the Successful Applicant

You will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with significant experience in senior commercial finance roles within FMCG or a fast-paced product-led environment. Strategic thinking, commercial insight and a collaborative approach are key, alongside a track record of influencing senior stakeholders and leading high-performing teams.
