The Role

We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Design & Technology Technician to support the delivery of high-quality DT provision across the school. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to ensure lessons are well-resourced, safe, and engaging for students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare materials, equipment, and resources for DT lessons

  • Maintain, organise, and safely store tools, machinery, and materials

  • Support practical lessons where required

  • Carry out routine maintenance and basic repairs of DT equipment

  • Ensure health and safety standards are upheld at all times, including COSHH and risk assessments

  • Manage stock levels and place orders for materials and supplies

  • Support students’ learning by providing technical advice and assistance

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience working as a DT Technician or in a similar role (school-based experience desirable)

  • Practical knowledge of DT disciplines such as resistant materials, electronics, textiles, or CAD/CAM

  • A strong understanding of health and safety in a workshop/classroom environment

  • Well organised, proactive, and able to work independently

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team

  • A positive approach to working with young people
