SEN School - Teaching Assistant

Supply Desk is excited to be partnering with an exceptional SEN school in Watford to recruit a passionate and resilient Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis, starting ASAP.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference by supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, autism, and other complex learning challenges. The Role:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with classroom teachers and SEND specialists to support students across Key Stages 2–4 in a structured, nurturing, and therapeutic environment. Your role will be pivotal in building students' confidence, helping them develop life skills, and supporting their academic and personal progress.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 and small-group support, tailored to the individual needs of students

Assist with behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies

Adapt learning materials and activities to ensure full engagement

Help implement EHCP targets and behaviour support plans

Build strong, positive relationships with pupils and staff

Contribute to creating a calm, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment

Monitor student progress and well-being, providing regular feedback
What We’re Looking For:
-
Experience supporting children or young people with SEN or SEMH needs
-
A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to working with students
-
Ability to manage challenging behaviours with calmness and confidence
-
Strong teamwork and communication skills
-
Understanding of trauma-informed practices and inclusive education strategies

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
