Randstad are hiring a Critical Shift Maintenance Technician to join a high-performing engineering team on a mission-critical site. You'll be ensuring the safe and efficient operation of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems across a 24/7 operation supporting critical infrastructure such as data centres, trading floors, or financial hubs.
This is a hands-on, front-line role for a dependable and experienced engineer with a proactive approach and excellent fault-finding skills.
Key Responsibilities:-
Perform reactive and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on M&E systems in a live critical environment

Monitor, operate, and maintain building systems including:

LV Electrical Distribution
-
Generators, UPS & Emergency Lighting
-
HVAC & BMS Systems
-
AHUs, FCUs, Pumps, Motors & Valves
-
Pressurisation & Expansion Vessels
-
Chillers & CRAC units
-
Hot and Cold-Water Systems (including L8 tasks)

Carry out plumbing and basic fabric repairs, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation

Respond to faults and alarms with urgency and professionalism to maintain uptime
-
Complete shift logs, reports, and compliance records accurately
-
Support building audits, inspections and emergency response procedures
-
Liaise with control rooms, clients, and subcontractors effectively
-
Follow risk assessments, method statements, and H&S policies at all times
-
Qualified in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (City & Guilds / NVQ / Apprenticeship)

18th Edition (Electrical candidates) preferred
-
Experience in critical environments (data centres, hospitals, trading floors, etc.)

Strong working knowledge of:

HVAC systems

Electrical and mechanical fault finding

Plumbing and water systems (L8 awareness)

Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond to technical emergencies

Good IT and reporting skills (e.g., CAFM systems)
