Learning Support Assistant – Watford

About the Role:

We are excited to offer multiple Learning Support Assistant (LSA) opportunities across Primary and Secondary Schools in Watford. These roles are perfect for individuals who are passionate about supporting students with diverse needs and helping them achieve their full potential. Whether you have experience in a Primary or Secondary school setting, we have opportunities available to suit your skills and preferences.

As an LSA, you’ll be working alongside teachers and support staff to deliver tailored support for students, ensuring they are fully included in lessons and can access the curriculum effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with special educational needs (SEN) or additional learning needs

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support, assisting students with literacy, numeracy, and emotional development

  • Work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to implement and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs)

  • Promote positive behaviour and engagement in learning for all students

  • Build trusting, supportive relationships with students, helping them gain confidence and thrive in the classroom

  • Contribute to the preparation of learning materials and adapt resources to suit individual learning needs

  • Assist in the monitoring of student progress, reporting observations to relevant staff

  • Help to create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing school environment

Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people, ideally within a school environment

  • A patient, calm, and empathetic approach to supporting students

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • A good understanding of SEN and inclusive education practices

  • Flexible and proactive, with a can-do attitude

  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
