Lab Technician

Overview:

We are currently recruiting for a experienced Lab Technician to work for our client who is a dynamic and innovative business working across the battery recycling space?

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform chemical analysis on a variety of environmental and production sample types through wet chemical techniques or by using lab instrumentation.
  • Be familiar with operations, maintenance and troubleshooting of a variety of analytical instrumentation, including X-ray Fluorescence Spectroscopy, Laser induced breakdown spectroscopy, pH meter, Thermal analysis (Carbon analyser) Inductively coupled plasma-Optical emission spectroscopy, etc.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
  • Prepare reagents and standards.
  • Maintain organization and housekeeping with the laboratory.
  • Perform data analysis and prepare reports for internal and external customers.
  • Assist in developing and improving SOPs and SWIs for instrumentation, methods, and processes.
  • Perform daily building checklists, maintenance, and housekeeping.
  • Assist the management of quality, audit and other external assessments.
  • Ensure that appropriate risk management processes are operational.
  • Assist in problem-solving with company QC personnel and troubleshooting with plant personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Degree in the Physical Sciences (Chemistry, Physics, Biology) or Engineering or equivalent in education and experience.
  • Three to five years of laboratory experience preferred.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office and Windows
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with both managers, plant operators, and other laboratory personnel.
  • Adaptable and flexible approach.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Keen to continue to improve understanding and knowledge of plant operations/Group strategies to contribute towards the organisation.
  • Hardworking attitude and reliable.
  • work independently.
  • Be technically proficient and accurate; effectively communicate in both written reports and presentations.
  • ensure compliance with applicable safety procedures.

Salary & Benefits Information:

  • Competitive base salary to be discussed with candidates on an individual basis.
  • Performance based bonus scheme
  • Defined contribution pension, min 6.25% employee contribution with max 10% employer contribution of basic annual salary
  • Death in service cover of 3x salary (if member of pension scheme)
  • 25 days’ holiday plus statutory days.
