HGV 1 SHUNTER NIGHTS - Raunds

We are currently recruiting for temporary Class 1 Night Shunter driver at our busy Raunds (Wellingborough) to be responsible for moving and parking vehicles and trailers in the yard, working to site procedure and within the requirements of company compliance.

This is an immediate start for successful candidates.

Shift available;

  • Wednesday to Sunday 18:00 - 04:00

Day pay rates: 

  • Monday – Friday  £16.63 (overtime after 47.5hrs £18.71)
  • Saturday £18.71
  • Sunday and Bank Holidays £24.95

Nights pay rates:

  • Monday – Friday £19.00 (overtime after 47.5hrs £21.38)
  • Saturday £21.38
  • Sunday and Bank Holidays £28.50

£20 a week supplementary payment also included!

30-minute break deducted per shift only! 

Job description

  • To ensure a safe, clean, and tidy working environment, adhering to hygiene standards, procedures and the “clean as you go” policy
  • Responsible for carrying out daily and weekly vehicle maintenance checks.
  • Full trailer audit completed minimum of two per shift.
  • Loading bay check (DE010D) sheet fulfilled twice per day
  • Daily check list for the yard to be completed.
  • To monitor and record trailer temperatures to fulfil audit requirements and in line with procedure.
  • Ensure all diesel and milk spillages are controlled in line with company policy
  • To safely move trailers from the parking area onto the loading bay, moving to the despatch area once loaded.
  • Responsible for following the correct procedures when “hitching and unhitching” the unit to the trailer, ensuring it is securely loaded.
  • To adhere to company procedures when reversing in the yard area.
  • To ensure that the “tug” or unit is kept clean and tidy inside and out.
  • When required, assist with deliveries to other depots, ensuring that the vehicle is not overweight prior to leaving site.
  • Responsible for ensuring Tachograph procedures are adhered to.
  • Responsible for adhering to relevant systems and procedures in place for Product Safety, Legality and Quality.
  • Responsible for adhering to all relevant systems and procedures in place for Health and Safety and Environmental Management.
  • To act wholeheartedly in the interests of the company always.
  • Controlling of Fuel Deliveries.
  • To undertake any other duties as needs indicate.

As a person you will need the following qualities and experience:

  • UK Driving Licence with a Cat C+E entitlement.

Your role:

  • Driving within the WTD and EU regs and rules.
  • Prepping vehicles for delivery.
  • Completing vehicles checks.
  • Refuelling vehicles.
  • The Driver must ensure that the highest levels of customer service are maintained on the round and orders are fulfilled on time and in full.
