Buyer - Automotive Manufacturing 

Are you a commercially astute Buyer with experience in the automotive sector and a passion for supplier development and strategic sourcing? A leading global manufacturing organisation is seeking a Buyer to join its Telford-based team.

This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a fast-paced, high-performing procurement function. You'll be responsible for supporting both direct and indirect commodity strategies, working closely with internal teams and a global supplier base to maximise value and drive supplier performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and manage supplier performance in line with group and plant strategies
  • Support the implementation of procurement strategies, including negotiations and contract compliance
  • Develop supplier relationships and ensure alignment with category strategies
  • Build detailed knowledge of supply markets and proactively manage sourcing activities
  • Report on supplier performance and governance, driving improvements where necessary
  • Contribute to group-wide deals and value delivery as part of a high-performing procurement team
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and operational standards
  • Provide training and guidance to suppliers on key processes and policies


What You Bring:

  • Experience in automotive procurement, ideally with project or programme management exposure
  • Strong understanding of press tooling and assembly purchasing
  • Proven experience working with international suppliers, particularly in China
  • Familiarity with QAFs and data analysis
  • MCIPS qualified or working towards qualification
  • Any engineering qualifications are a plus
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Previous experience with OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers
