Job Title: Security Engineer
Location: Welwyn Garden City
Remuneration: Daily rate from £750
Contract Details: Fixed Term Contract (6 months)
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute queries to enable robust threat detection across various platforms.
- Leverage your working knowledge of Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems to enhance security measures.
- Collaborate with team members while also being capable of working independently to tackle security challenges.
- Understand and analyse modern attacker tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) to fortify defences.
- Translate threat intelligence into actionable detection logic, ensuring our systems remain secure.
- Maintain a solid grasp of detection technologies to stay ahead of potential threats.
- Demonstrate a broad understanding of security concepts and exhibit a genuine passion for cybersecurity.
- Apply an analytical approach to problem-solving, especially when working on production systems at scale.
- utilise query languages such as KQL (Kusto Query Language) to optimise detection capabilities.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using Bash, Python, Batch, and PowerShell to streamline processes.
Key Skills and Experience:
- Proven ability to develop queries for effective threat detection.
- Strong knowledge of operating systems: Windows, macOS, and Linux.
- Experience in translating complex threat intelligence into practical applications.
- Familiarity with modern attacker TTPs and detection technologies.
- Demonstrated passion for cybersecurity and a proactive approach to learning.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in query languages, particularly KQL.
- Experience in developing automation scripts in various programming languages.
