We are delighted to support a well-regarded primary school in the St Albans area in appointing a Class Teacher for Year 5 (Maternity Cover), starting January 2026. This is a full-time fixed-term role, with the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the life and learning of pupils in a supportive, ambitious environment.

Pay: MPS3 to MPS6

The Role
You will lead one of the Year 5 classes during the maternity absence and deliver high-quality teaching across the curriculum. You should be creative, enthusiastic, and committed to the highest standards of pupil wellbeing and academic achievement. You will work with the existing Year 5 team to maintain consistency, coherence, and continuity of learning, helping to further develop and refine the curriculum as needed.

About You
You will be an excellent teacher with experience (or a strong ability) in KS2, ideally having taught Year 5 or equivalent years. You should be committed to ongoing professional development, able to collaborate with colleagues, and ready to take on the challenge of shaping learning outcomes. You will place children's wellbeing at the centre of your approach, supporting their personal growth as well as their academic progress.
