Talent STEM is working with a well-established chemical manufacturer in the West Midlands to recruit a Chemical Engineer to join their team. This company specialises in complex chemical synthesis, supplying products to the pharmaceutical, agrochemical and speciality chemicals sectors worldwide.

Key responsibilities:
Design, develop, implement, and commission plant modification projects, incorporating hazard evaluations and HAZOP studies.
Determine the scope of risk assessments, perform calculations, recommend testing, lead HAZOP sessions, refine designs, and maintain risk documentation.
Ensure all engineering work adheres to legal standards and industry codes of practice.
Collaborate with project engineering teams to develop plant layouts, designs, costings, and proposals for approval.
Provide technical expertise to process improvement and project teams, supporting research efforts with practical process development solutions.
Advise colleagues, clients, contractors, and consultants on technical aspects such as design, safety, materials, and processing techniques.
Lead assigned projects, managing budgets, designs, and delivery to meet performance and operational targets.
Organise design, commissioning, and resource allocation to achieve production objectives.
Qualifications and experience:
Chemical Engineering degree (minimum requirement).
Minimum of 5 years’ relevant industrial experience.
Desirable experience:
Creating and enhancing chemical processes.
Practical experience in plant commissioning and troubleshooting.
Familiarity with COMAH regulations and their application.
Knowledge of DSEAR methodology.
Proficiency in SIL and LOPA assessments.
Expertise in relief system sizing and DIERS methodology.
