Orchards Pharmacy Ltd, a vibrant patient-focussed, woman-owned pharmacy powerhouse, is looking for a positive and hardworking healthcare professional to join our dispensing team. We are a busy pharmacy dispensing controlled medications daily.
We are looking for a positive customer-friendly professional who can utilise theirHealthcare qualifications (Nursing, Pharmacy dispenser background preferred) to enrich our patient's lives. An adaptable and flexible mentality geared to problem-solve within regulations, document changes in patient medication history correctly and co-ordinate with the pharmacist, GP surgery accordingly. A desire to acquire new knowledge and skills in practice and lead.
  • to provide a courteous, confidential and professional service to all pharmacy customers.
  • To complete an accredited dispenser NVQ 2/3 training course, and any training required by the company to ensure a high degree of customer service.
  • To ensure all prescriptions are dispensed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • To carry out dispensary administrative tasks, where applicable.
  • To adhere to Pharmacy Standard Operating Procedures and policies, Health and Safety regulations and legal and ethical requirements affecting pharmacy.
  • To work as part of a team, to develop the profitability of the pharmacy.

Specific duties :

  1. Maintain productivity and engagement levels within the pharmacy support team; ensuring skill mix and competence in line with companyprocedures.
  2. Purchasing and stock management - Accurate receipt of stock to ensure up-to-date reflection ofstock position. weekly stock reconciliation, stock rotation, co-ordinate assets and returns process
  3. Perform and coordinate tasks to ensure daily workload is achieved efficiently.
  4. Accountable formanaging behaviours and conduct within the pharmacy.
  5. Independently oversee training needs and renewal of certificates for pharmacy supervisors, counter-assistant staff - conduct training sessions on procedures, working with the quality team to ensure timely delivery of training
  6. Point-of-contact for locum pharmacy bookings, registration check and payments.
  7. Fully accountable for good maintenance of all storage areas (in line with GDP standards) and stock management.
  8. Triage annual leave and absence requests.
  9. Creation of pharmacy work place employee's rota.
  10. Active involvement with management of stock-taking alongside the Pharmacy Manager and Assistant Manager.
  11. Any other tasks requested by members of the management team.
  12. NHS Smartcard If you are an existing NHS Smartcard holder, you will be required to use it. If not, one will be provided to you. Where authorised, complete all end of day/month paperwork in a timely manner. This may include preparing prescriptions for submission to the NHSBSA.
  13. Respond appropriately to customer needs, politely and efficiently, by asking appropriate questions, following the Standard Operating Procedures for Sale of Medicines and Supporting Self-care, recording advice on customers patient medication records (PMR) when applicable and taking appropriate action if a product is not available.
  14. Refer customers on to other healthcare professionals, including the pharmacist, following the Standard Operating Procedure for Sign-Posting and recording details on their PMR, where appropriate.
  15. Follow COSHH regulations at all times and be able to recognise and handle hazardous goods.
  16. Handle returned medicines, waste and rubbish appropriately, dealing with spillage and debris efficiently and appropriately.
  17. Carry out good housekeeping procedures regularly and effectively maintaining the appearance of the pharmacy and other areas.
