SEN Teaching Assistant

Our client, a school based in Harmondsworth are seeking a high-level SEN Teaching Assistant to join their amazing team, on a full time, permanent basis, offering a salary of up to 34,000 depending on experience. This is a great opportunity to join a new independent school in the heart of Harmondsworth (Hillingdon) that caters to learners aged 5-11 with severe learning difficulties and Autism.

What will you be doing?

As the SEN teaching assistant, you will take responsibility for the classroom during teachers' absence and line manage teaching assistants when required. You will be mentoring, supporting and inspiring learners by supporting them in a play-based learning approach. You will provide meaningful feedback on pupil attainment and progress and assist the class teacher with the preparation of learning environments contributing to the achievement of Personal Learning Plans (PLPs). You will support the class teacher in monitoring, assessing, recording and reporting pupils' progress and collaborate with class teachers to support learners to develop self-regulation skills.

What skills will you have?

  • You will be experienced in working with SEN in an employed or voluntary setting.
  • You will have a passion for working with SEN children.
  • Have the desire to put the child first and treat them as an individual.
  • You will be positive and creative in meeting pupils' individual needs.
  • You will have the desire to learn and develop.
  • You will understand the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
