With offices across multiple locations, this role provides an exciting opportunity to handle a diverse caseload and contribute to the growth of the department.Key Responsibilities:
  • Managing a caseload of prison law matters, including parole hearings, adjudications, re-categorisation applications, licence recalls, and judicial reviews.
  • Providing high-quality legal advice and representation to clients on all prison law matters.
  • Maintaining a thorough understanding of changes in prison law legislation and ensuring compliance with relevant legal standards.
  • Regularly attending prisons, hearings, and providing in-person consultations with clients.
  • Liaising with other legal professionals, clients, and external agencies.
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships, ensuring a high standard of client care.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 2 years’ PQE in Prison Law, including experience in managing a full caseload independently.
  • Proficiency in legal aid funding processes and prison law-specific regulations.
  • Excellent advocacy, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • A current driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
  • Willingness to travel to different locations and attend prisons as required.
