Overview:
- As a Toolmaker working within the repair & maintenance teams you will be responsible for providing support to the companys manufacturing operations by repairing and maintaining tooling to a production standard.
- The successful candidate will have experience in repairing and maintaining mould & press tools and display a strong mechanical aptitude and the desire to learn and develop upon their skills where necessary
Role:
- Responsible for the repair, maintenance and improvement of mould and press tooling.
- To manufacture all work as specified by the Tool Order Request using current issue design drawings.
- To be capable of working to BS 308 drawing standards and its associated BS standards.
- Confident using various methods of measurement with equipment such as: Micrometres, Verniers, Slip gauges, Pin and Thread gauges, Shadow graph, ect.
- Evaluate repair jobs to determine the work involved to get tooling into spec and back to production.
- Understanding of tool steels and their characteristics.
- Responsible for inspecting and testing your work to ensure all tooling lies within specification, meets quality standards and functional requirements.
- Operate all machines and processes in accordance with accepted and documented procedures such as: Manual mills, lathes, surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, jig grinders and EDM sinkers.
- Ability to perform benchwork/hand skill activities using a wide range of tools and equipment and able to maintain those tools in an operational condition.
- Responsible for basic machine maintenance and good housekeeping.
Experience requirements:
- Engineering qualification / time served apprenticeship
- Understanding of mould and press tool processes and operations.
- Hot runner system knowledge and experience.
- Experience with standard toolroom equipment, milling, turning, grinding, Laser welding.
- Ability to read an interpret engineering drawings
- Ability to work individually as well as part of a team.
- Ability to collaborate with peers in contributing to diagnosing and problem solving.
- Computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office
