Senior Quantity Surveyor - Hotels & Student Accommodation
West End, City of Westminster | 60,000-85,000 + 20% Bonus + Benefits

Are you a commercially savvy Quantity Surveyor with strong pre-construction experience?
Have you worked on high-profile schemes across the PBSA or hotel sectors?
Keen to make the jump from traditional QS work into a more development-focused, all-rounder role?

About the Company
This developer is behind some of the most high-profile student accommodation and hotel schemes in the UK. With projects spanning land acquisition, funding, design, construction and eventual disposal or operation, they bring an end-to-end approach to development. Known for their agile, supportive and fast-moving environment, they're looking to add a Senior Quantity Surveyor to their high-performing commercial team.

About the Role
You'll be joining a tight-knit commercial function, supporting a Director overseeing multiple projects. While there's an assistant in place to support, the Senior QS will be expected to drive their own projects forward, especially in pre-construction. This is a broad role offering excellent exposure to the full lifecycle of development, making it ideal for someone who wants to evolve towards a Development Manager role over time.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead cost planning and commercial strategy from acquisition through to delivery
  • Manage and report across multiple projects - both hotels and PBSA schemes
  • Own and deliver pre-construction activities across a varied portfolio
  • Develop and amend procurement strategies as projects evolve
  • Coordinate closely with internal development and delivery teams
  • Support the wider business on ad hoc project needs as required
  • Provide input and oversight to the Assistant QS on project delivery
  • Report directly to a senior figure and operate with autonomy and trust

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a similar developer-side or client-side QS role
  • Pre-construction and cost planning experience is essential
  • Exposure to PBSA, hotels or mixed-use schemes is highly beneficial
  • Previous background with developers or client side preferred
  • Strong initiative, resilience and ability to manage own workload
  • Capable of supporting and mentoring junior staff
  • Organised, process-driven, and commercially astute
  • Experience across full development lifecycle is a major advantage

Benefits

  • up to 85,000 basic salary (DOE)
  • Discretionary bonus of up to 20%
  • Generous annual leave allowance
  • Private medical insurance (Vitality - includes discounted gym membership)
  • Pension
  • High level of autonomy and a clear path into Development Management
  • Office based in the West End, City of Westminster
  • Flexible, trusting culture with occasional WFH as needed

This is a rare opportunity to step out of the traditional QS silo and into a broader, more strategic development role. If you're driven, adaptable and want more ownership over your projects - we would love to hear from you.
