Job Title: Biodiversity Net Gain, GIS and Data Specialist

Location: Bristol (Hybrid is an option and open to discussion)

Salary: Up to 35,000 (DOE) Plus Benefits, and discretionary bonus.

A boutique Environmental Advisory firm have a requirement for an experienced Ecologist to join their team, with a particular focus on Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) delivery and ecological reporting. The purpose of the role is to work as part of wider team to deliver high-quality BNG assessments, habitat surveys, and ecological strategies across a range of projects. The successful person will have a strong technical grounding in ecological data analysis and mapping, alongside a clear understanding of the latest BNG policies and best practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the delivery of BNG mapping, metric calculations, reporting, and presentation of outcomes
  • Undertake habitat surveys and condition assessments to recognised standards
  • Prepare detailed management plans and biodiversity net gain strategies
  • Collaborate with associates, clients, and multidisciplinary teams to support project delivery
  • Analyse, interpret and present ecological data from both fieldwork and desktop sources
  • Participate in occasional field-based ecological surveys as required

Skills/Experience Required:

  • Proficiency in QGIS, LandApp, and biodiversity net gain tools
  • A solid understanding and practical experience of applying BNG good practice principles
  • An aptitude for presenting complex ecological data effectively
  • Awareness of ecological legislation, planning policy, and best practice guidance
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach and the ability to manage workload independently
