Job Title: School Caretaker
Job Summary:The School Caretaker is responsible for ensuring the school site is clean, secure, safe, and well-maintained. This role supports the smooth day-to-day running of the school by performing general maintenance, security duties, and site supervision.
Key Responsibilities:

Open and close the school premises at designated times, ensuring all access points are secure.

Carry out minor repairs and general maintenance of the buildings and grounds (e.g., plumbing, painting, furniture repairs).

Monitor heating, lighting, and alarm systems, reporting issues or arranging specialist repairs when needed.

Ensure health and safety compliance across the site; identify hazards and take corrective action.

Maintain cleanliness and order in outdoor areas including playgrounds, pathways, and car parks.

Supervise cleaning contractors and site staff; ensure standards of hygiene and cleanliness are upheld.

Manage deliveries and distribute supplies appropriately across the school.

Assist in the setup of furniture and equipment for school events or lettings.

Respond to urgent maintenance issues and emergencies efficiently and professionally.

Keep records of maintenance tasks, inspections, and site safety checks.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Previous experience in a similar role preferred.

Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
