Overview:
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a proactive and detail-oriented MaterialsBuyer to join a dynamic and fast-paced construction environment. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in procurement within the construction or related industries, who thrives on cost control, quality assurance, and supplier relationship management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Procurement & Sourcing: Responsible for sourcing and procuring materials, equipment, and services required for ongoing construction projects in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Purchase Order Management: Create and maintain accurate purchase orders, ensuring alignment with project specifications and timelines.
- Cost Analysis & Budget Control: Monitor market trends and pricing to optimise purchasing strategies and ensure alignment with project budgets, working closely with the commercial team.
- Project Collaboration: Liaise with project managers, engineers, and commercial teams to understand material requirements, ensure on-time delivery, and anticipate any procurement-related challenges.
- Quality Control: Verify that all procured materials meet quality standards and project specifications, collaborating with relevant stakeholders throughout the procurement process.
- Supplier & Vendor Management: Establish and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and vendors. Negotiate terms such as pricing, delivery, payment conditions, and warranties to ensure the best value.
- Sourcing Strategy: Develop and implement effective sourcing strategies to ensure availability of high-quality products while maintaining cost efficiency.
- Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate procurement records and ensure compliance with relevant company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Regularly review procurement processes to identify opportunities for improvement in cost savings, supplier performance, and supply chain efficiency.
- Other Duties: Undertake any additional tasks reasonably required within the scope of the role.
Ideal Candidate:
- Proven experience in a purchasing/procurement role within the construction or related sectors.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple procurement activities simultaneously.
- Confident in liaising with internal teams and external suppliers.
- Comfortable working to deadlines and in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience using procurement or ERP software is advantageous.
