Children’s Home Deputy Manager – Bury St Edmunds

Contract Personnel are looking for an experienced Deputy Manager to join a well-established leading local charity at their fully occupied solo service which is rated as good by Ofsted

How does the day-to-day look?

  • To deputise for the manager as required
  • To act as the deputy senior professional in the staff team
  • To ensure staff access identified developmental opportunities for service-users
  • To protect the service-users from threat to their health, well-being and development, both from inside and outside the home
  • To ensure that the home environment is appropriate and sensitive to the needs of the service users
  • Where possible, to ensure service-users are included in any decision-making related to the running of the home
  • To manage staff in a manner that provides an empowering, positive experience for service-users through appropriate use of company’s processes including recruitment, support & supervision, annual appraisal and disciplinary
  • To implement management decisions in a manner that provides an empowering, positive experience for service-users
  • To ensure the key stages in service-user contact with the home, such as referral, admission and discharge, run smoothly and timely and reflect decisions recorded in care plans
  • Where appropriate, to participate in the development, implementation and monitoring of individual care plans
  • To develop and maintain good working relationships (where appropriate) with: parents and other family members, social workers, school staff
  • Other professionals with a concern for the children’s and young people’s needs, such as General Practitioners or Psychologists.
  • To ensure that specific needs are met such as: dietary requirements, culturally significant activities, religious observance
  • To ensure that service-users carry as much responsibility for their own lives as they can reasonably and demonstratively be expected to manage, keeping them informed of their circumstances and rights, involving them in planning their lives and supporting and helping them towards taking greater control and responsibility
  • To ensure compliance with all statutory and legislative requirements
  • Any other reasonable task as directed by your Line Management

You will have:

  • Ability to demonstrate effective leadership and people management skills whilst prioritising the care of our young people and developing these crucial relationships
  • NVQ Qualified (Minimum Level 3) in a social care related subject
  • The ability to inspire and motivate your team and young people within the service
  • Promote a culture of high standards and excellent performance
  • A caring, compassionate and resilient nature
  • Working with children for at least one year

Schedule: 37 hours per week

Salary:  £33,428 - £34,980 DOE + performance related bonus
