We are looking for a reliable and caring Chef to prepare nutritious, home-cooked meals for around 20 residents in our friendly residential care home for the elderly. You will be required to work 3/4 days a week, 8-5 and will include every other weekend.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys cooking with fresh ingredients, understands traditional and special-diet cooking, and values consistency, cleanliness, and dignity in food service.
Key ResponsibilitiesPlan and prepare daily meals for approximately 20 residents
Cook fresh, balanced meals suited to older peoples dietary needs
Accommodate special diets (soft, diabetic, low-salt, etc.)
Order food supplies and manage stock levels
Complete basic kitchen paperwork (temperature logs, cleaning records, ordering records)
Maintain high standards of hygiene and food safety
Work collaboratively with care staff to meet residents needs
Previous experience as a chef or cook (care home or similar setting preferred)
Knowledge of food hygiene and safe food handling
Organised, dependable, and able to manage ordering and paperwork
A kind, patient approach and understanding of elderly residents
Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
