PSV Mechanic
Location: Weston-Super-Mare, BS23 3DN
Salary: 15.00 - 20.00 per hour (depending on experience and qualifications)
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend availability as required
About the Company
Streamline Search is working in partnership with a well-established, award-winning passenger transport company that provides coach holidays, home-to-school transport, and community services. Due to continued investment in their fleet and operations, our client is now seeking a skilled and dependable PSV Mechanic to join their experienced maintenance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified mechanic from a PSV, HGV, or broader transport background to work in a supportive environment with a strong focus on safety, reliability, and career development.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out scheduled inspections, servicing, and repairs on a fleet of coaches, minibuses, and other passenger vehicles.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults and perform the necessary repairs efficiently.
- Conduct MOT preparations and inspections to ensure vehicles meet DVSA standards.
- Complete all documentation accurately and maintain service records to a high standard.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety procedures and transport regulations.
- Respond to vehicle breakdowns and carry out roadside repairs when required.
- Work collaboratively with the engineering and transport teams to maintain vehicle availability and reliability.
Requirements
- Previous experience working on PSV (Passenger Service Vehicles), HGV, or in the wider commercial vehicle/transport sector.
- Relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent). Time-served mechanics without formal qualifications will also be considered based on experience.
- Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
- Good understanding of DVSA safety standards and vehicle compliance requirements.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a busy workshop environment.
- A full UK driving licence is required. A PSV licence would be advantageous but is not essential.
