Lynx Recruitment is seeking an experienced Transport Manager to join our prestigious client, a well-established logistics and distribution company based in the South West region.
About the Role:
This is an exceptional opportunity for a dedicated Transport Manager with CPC certification to take ownership of fleet operations for our client. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with transport regulations, managing a team of drivers, and overseeing vehicle maintenance schedules while driving operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and develop a team of professional HGV drivers, fostering a culture of safety and compliance
- Maintain the company's Operator's License and ensure full compliance with DVSA regulations
- Monitor and manage drivers' hours, tachograph records, and working time directive requirements
- Coordinate fleet maintenance schedules, including inspections, servicing, and MOTs
- Lead health and safety initiatives within the transport department
- Liaise with customers to ensure service expectations are consistently met
- Analyze and improve KPIs related to fleet efficiency and performance
- Manage transport-related budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities
- Handle driver recruitment, training, and development
- Respond effectively to any transport-related incidents or emergencies
Requirements:
- Valid Transport Manager CPC qualification (National or International Road Haulage)
- Proven experience as a Transport Manager or in a similar senior role
- Comprehensive knowledge of UK transport legislation and DVSA requirements
- Experience managing driver compliance and vehicle maintenance systems
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Health and Safety knowledge (IOSH qualification desirable)
- Computer literacy with experience of transport management systems
- Strong communication skills and customer service focus
Desirable:
- ADR knowledge/qualification
- FORS/CLOCS familiarity
- Experience with digital tachograph analysis systems
- Fleet management qualifications
