We are seeking an HR Advisor for an immediate start to join our team at the national library. This role is crucial in providing a quality and consistent HR service, supporting and advising managers to ensure that People policies are properly and consistently implemented. This ongoing temporary position is ideal for someone who is ready to handle a variety of People-related projects and tasks.
Day-to-day of the role:- Work alongside Senior HR Advisors to support the development of line management capacity, assisting them in achieving their business objectives.
- Provide advice and coaching on specific day-to-day People-related issues to ensure effective management solutions within the Library’s cultural context.
- Advise managers and staff on matters across the whole spectrum of human resources to ensure a consistent approach towards correctly implementing People policies.
- Assist and advise in the investigation of disciplinary and grievance cases, maintaining awareness of current legislation and ensuring policies and procedures are amended accordingly.
- Coordinate recruitment campaigns to attract and recruit appropriate candidates at all levels.
- Perform a limited counselling role and handle all types of enquiries to resolve staff work problems.
- Complete statistical returns relating to specific functional areas and provide relevant information for inclusion in management reports to support the People KPI’s.
- Assist in the implementation of organisation and service reviews, management of change, and organisational development projects.
- Support the Head of People on continuous improvement initiatives aligned with the People Strategy and Living Knowledge.
- Monitor specific data such as sickness absence, competencies, equalities, and conducts, and liaise with and advise managers on issues arising.
- Ideally the person would need to be a strong communicator and have Employee relations experience.
- Proven experience as an HR Advisor, preferably within a similar setting.
- Strong understanding of HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Knowledge of current employment legislation and its application.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of advising and coaching managers and staff.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
