Principal Marine Engineer

We are currently seeking a Principal Marine Engineer with a specialization in Submarine Technical Leadership. This role offers the flexibility to work from various locations and requires occasional travel to customer sites.

Day-to-Day of the Role:
  • Lead teams of engineers within the submarine domain, providing technical assurance and supporting the development of opportunities both in the UK and internationally.
  • Get involved in solving engineering challenges through leading the development and delivery of Marine Engineering aspects of our projects.
  • Projects range from supporting complex in-service changes, conducting feasibility studies, and performing technical and design engineering investigations and analyses.
  • Contribute to a wide range of consulting projects across different market areas and support research and development initiatives to enhance global understanding of submarine issues.
  • Drive the development of future submarine design concepts and new capabilities, tools, and processes.
  • Collaborate with wider business functions to develop opportunities and foster customer relationships.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Must have served as a submariner in the UK Royal Navy post-charge within the Mechanical/Marine Engineering specialism or possess significant technical competence with submarine Nuclear Propulsion and Mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with UK MoD submarine business practices and customers is essential.
  • Registered as a Chartered Engineer with an appropriate professional body.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to act with integrity at all levels of the business and with customers.
  • Experience across the entire platform lifecycle, from concept development through to in-service support and disposal, is desirable.
