Highways Supervisor

Location: Whitby Depot Duration: (approx. 2 months)Rate of Pay: £20 - £22 P/HHours: 40 hrs/week

The Role: Supervise day-to-day depot operations (Seamer Carr or Whitby), covering both reactive & planned maintenance and capital works under North Yorkshire Council's term maintenance contract. Ensure works are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

Lead and support operatives, subcontractors, and depot staff

  • Plan and coordinate materials, plant, and labour
  • Enforce health, safety, and environmental compliance

  • Monitor progress, budgets, and performance

  • Mentor and develop the team

The Candidate:

  • Highways Supervisor or construction background (Ganger level or above)

  • Knowledge of Traffic Management (TM1, TM2, T7)

  • Health & safety legislation understanding

  • Strong communication and leadership skills

  • Willingness to undertake relevant training (e.g., Winter 6159 Supervisor Unit 621)
