Westlakes Recruit are currently recruiting for a HSE & Compliance officer with a background in a highly regulated industry on a permanent or contract basis, to be located in Cumbria.

Accountabilities:
Keep up to date with HSE and Sustainability legislation
Promote HSE at work. Give HSE, Welfare and Mental Health toolbox talks and briefings
Ensure all HSE, Sustainability, Welfare, Mental Health etc. policies and procedures are developed, effectively implemented and maintained, including completion of effectiveness reviews and continuous improvement activities.
Help manage the ISO 45001 and 14001 certifications
Develop and maintain HSE and sustainability metrics and statistics, analyse positive and adverse trends affecting performance and deploy corrective/improvement actions as needed. Report RIDDOR Statistics
Complete and manage office and task risk assessments (including office COSHH assessments)
Conduct workplace safety audits.
Conduct on-site health and safety inspections and plant safety walkdowns.
Manage accident/incident investigations and reporting
Organise HSE and sustainability training
Lead on the management and ordering of PPE
Manage Sustainability activities and implement innovations and improvements in this area
Manage Carbon Accounting activities

Essential Experience / Qualifications
General facilities and office management knowledge and experience
Working knowledge of current HSE and sustainability legislation associated with office and plant environments
Nuclear industry knowledge and experience, especially in relation to HSE, quality and security activities
Experience in undertaking risk assessments including COSHH risk assessments
ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and 14001 and Quality Management System knowledge & experience
Experience in developing, implementing and managing processes, procedures and workplace instructions
Experience in accident investigation and reporting, health and safety inspections and plant safety walkdowns.
