The position of Assistant Accountant is a key and wide-ranging role within the finance team working efficiently and ensuring the highest levels of accuracy. The position requires day-to-day accounting functions to be carried out and requires a business partner who enjoys playing a part in key areas of support, process efficiencies and reporting improvements.

Client Details

A very rare opportunity has arisen for someone to join a manufacturing business in Widnes, part of a small finance team reporting into the head of finance. Seeking a studier towards AAT, CIMA, ACCA who they can carry through studies to support and help progress their career. Getting involved in month end, budgets - fantastic exposure to finance.

Description

  • Preparation and processing of month end journals - accruals, prepayments and re-allocation of costs
  • Month end stock reconciliation and cost of sales analysis
  • Assist in the preparation and interrogation of monthly management accounts packs including financial statements, sales and overhead analysis and capital expenditure report
  • Monthly payroll processing and cover for weekly wages
  • Control of capital investment approval process including fixed asset register maintenance, depreciation calculation and reconciliation
  • Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are completed on a monthly basis and investigate and resolve any variances
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, product costs and forecasts
  • Quarter end reporting to parent company
  • Key involvement in year end audit process, reporting and provision of information
  • Provide cover for other team members as and when required
  • Any other ad hoc analysis information requests to support the business

Profile

  • Studying AAT/ CIMA / ACCA
  • Experience within a similar position within Retail or Wholesale would be desirable but not essential
  • Advanced Excel skills - vlookup / pivot tables
  • Numerate with strong analytical skills
  • Highly motivated, self-starter, full of initiative and able to work autonomously
  • Team player
