Job Advert: Finance Assistant
Location: WidnesReports to: Senior Financial ControllerWorking Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Are you detail-oriented, organised, and looking to take the next step in your finance career? We're seeking a Finance Assistant to support our Senior Financial Controller and help manage the day-to-day financial activities of the company. This role is essential in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the finance function across a range of key responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Liaise daily with the Financial Controller to plan workload and requirements.
- Raise relevant sales invoices and check supporting documentation.
- Process purchase ledger invoices, matching them with appropriate documentation.
- Review and verify invoices for quantities received, pricing, and discounts.
- Resolve discrepancies or billing issues by liaising with internal departments.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Maintain credit control records, including limits and payments, and liaise with customers.
- Accurately input financial data into the MPI and accounting systems.
- Organise and manage filing systems for financial documents.
- Contribute to the implementation of a paperless office through scanning and organising files.
- Assist in generating regular financial reports.
- Support the Financial Controller with tasks and instructions.
- Collaborate on month-end activities.
- Prepare stock adjustments and month-end reports.
- Take on ad-hoc financial tasks as required.
- Show strong attention to detail.
- Always work in a safe manner to protect yourself and others.
Person Specification:
Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience working in a busy office environment.
- Comfortable working both independently and in a team.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work with minimal supervision.
- Experience in a health and safety-focused workplace.
- CIMA/ACCA qualification preferred but not essential.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Self-starter with the ability to use initiative.
- Proficient in basic computer skills.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation abilities.
