CK Group are recruiting for a Research and Development Laboratory Technician, to join a global materials manufacturing company, based near Wigan, on a full time, permanent basis.

The Company:
Our client is a global leader in manufacturing glass for the architectural, automotive and technical sectors. They strive to be the best innovator of high-performance glass and glazing solutions. They now have an exciting opportunity for an R&D Laboratory Technician to join their Thin Film Resource Group within the R&D Function and are offering a salary ranging up to 32,000 depending on experience.

Location:
The R&D Laboratory Technician position will be based at the company's site near Wigan, easily commutable by road from Merseyside including Liverpool, Ormskirk, Skelmersdale and Manchester. Please note a full UK driving licence and car ownership is required, due to the company's location.

R&D Laboratory Technician Role:
Your main duties will be:
  • Operating and maintaining lab coating equipment.
  • Depositing thin films on glass and preparing substrates.
  • Investigating new coatings applied through Chemical Vapour Deposition (CVD).
  • Conducting durability tests and preparing samples.
  • Measuringphysical properties of coated glass.

Your Background:
The ideal candidate for this role will have the following skills and experience:
  • Educated to BTEC/HNC/apprenticeship level - these are strongly preferred over a degree-level education for this role.
  • Experience working in a chemical laboratory - essential.
  • Driving licence and access to car - essential.
