Key Responsibilities – Machine Operator (FMCG Focus)
As a Machine Operative, you will play a vital role in the production of high-quality FMCG hygiene products. Your key responsibilities as a Machine Operative will include:
Operating Specialised FMCG Machinery
As a Machine Operative, your duties will involve working with:
- Fabric Conversion Machines that fold dry fabric into wet wipe stacks
- Flow Wrapping Equipment to package wet wipe stacks
- Pick and Place Systems for automated product placement
- Case Erectors for assembling boxes
- Palletising Equipment for stacking finished goods
Production Line Collaboration
As a Machine Operative you’ll work in a fast-paced team to achieve daily and weekly production targets within the FMCG sector.
Quality Assurance
Regular quality checks are a key part of your role as a Machine Operative, ensuring that all products meet hygiene and safety standards.
Health & Safety
As a Machine Operative, you must:
- Follow strict health, safety, and hygiene protocols
- Promptly report machinery faults or hazards
- Maintain cleanliness and operational efficiency of assigned machines
Maintenance & Hygiene / Workspace Organisation
You’ll be expected to keep your work area clean, minimize waste, and report any issues—essential habits for a responsible Machine Operative.
Working Hours – Machine Operator (Shift-Based Role)
- Shift Pattern: 4 on, 4 off
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Rotation: 2 days, 2 nights, then 4 days off
- Flexibility Required: You must be available for both day and night shifts as a Machine Operative.
- Salary : £28,071.00
Essential Criteria – Machine Operator
To be considered for the Machine Operative position, you must have:
- A minimum of 1 year’s experience as a Machine Operative in an FMCG manufacturing setting (e.g., food, toiletries, baby wipes)
- The ability to operate complex FMCG machinery in a clean, high-standard environment
- Strong literacy and numeracy skills (assessed at interview)
- The ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions
- Confidence with basic PC use and documentation
