Junior NPD Technologist

About the Junior NPD Technologist job
The purpose of your role will be to support the Senior NPD Technologist with the development and innovation of products, liaising with all departments to ensure products and services are supplied within agreed specifications whilst keeping up to date with key development trends within the food industry as well as developing and maintaining excellent relationships with customers, external contacts, and colleagues.
Key tasks
- Support the development of designated new product (NPD) and product reformulation (EPD) concepts & projects from customer or internal branded development briefs.
- Prepare baked product samples to a high standard for internal photoshoots and customer visits (internal and external) as directed by the NPD Manager or Senior NPD Technologist. This will require new creative recipes to be generated and developed.
- Trial and assess manufactured products as directed by the NPD Manager or Senior NPD Technologist, writing up an assessment report against key criteria, to create a clear list of suitable applications and product features and benefits.
- Undertake benchmarking exercises.
About You
- This role is ideally suited to a recent graduate who has studied Bakery Science/Technology/Innovation. Or a Food Science/Technology graduate with a keen interest in bakery NPD.
- Knowledge of food processing technologies, ingredient functionality and product development processes is key, with a genuine interest in food and awareness of the latest market trends in bakery goods and ingredients.
- A competent baker is required, with good knowledge of bakery techniques and basic recipes, coupled with the creative ability to generate new recipe ideas.

The Junior NPD Technologist job (ref:8934) is based in Wigan and is paying £25,000 per annum and offers a great benefits package.
The working hours are Monday to Thursday 08:00 – 16:30 and Friday 07:30 – 15:00.
The site is based in Wigan, Greater Manchester and is commutable from Manchester, Bolton, Warrington, Preston, Ormskirk, St Helens, Chorley and Bury, along with other areas of Lancashire and Merseyside.
