Civil Design Engineer
Wigan, Lancashire.
45,000 - 55,000 (DOE) + Benefits

I'm working with a well-established, independent civil & structural engineering consultancy who are looking to bring a talented Civil Design Engineer into their growing team. This is a practice with a strong track record in delivering high-quality residential development infrastructure across the UK - from compact private housing schemes to large-scale mixed-use masterplans.

You'll be stepping into a key role, taking responsibility for the full civil design package for residential schemes - including highways, drainage, external levels, and plot drainage - from feasibility through to approvals and construction.

What you'll be doing as a Civil Design Engineer:

  • Delivering detailed designs for highways and drainage on residential projects.
  • Producing external levels and plot drainage designs independently.
  • Carrying out site appraisals and drainage feasibility studies.
  • Preparing and reviewing Flood Risk Assessments.
  • Managing Section 38 & Section 104 applications and guiding them through the approvals process.
  • Liaising with LLFA in England and SAB within Wales.
  • Working confidently in AutoCAD, Causeway PDS, and Causeway Flow.

What you'll bring:

  • Minimum 5 years' design office experience.
  • Strong all-round technical capability in residential civils design.
  • Confidence to take projects from concept to completion.
  • Excellent working knowledge of relevant approval processes and design standards.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, local authorities, and colleagues.

Why join them?

You'll be part of a friendly, technically strong team with a healthy pipeline of repeat clients. The practice is big enough to work on interesting and varied schemes, but small enough for you to have a genuine voice and influence. They also offer a competitive salary, flexible working, and the autonomy to run your own projects.

If you're ready to take the next step in your civils career and want to join a consultancy where your input really counts, I'd be happy to have a confidential chat
