SEND Teaching Assistant 

Milk Education are working with an Special Educational Needs Primary School in Wigan (WN4) who are seeking a full-time SEND Teaching Assistant to work at their caring and inspirational school. They require a full-time SEND Teaching Assistant who is confident to support Primary aged children with their social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).

The hours of work are 08:30am- 14:45pm Monday to Friday and this temporary role will commence as soon as possible and will be an on-going position. The role will start out as a week on week basis and may lead to a long-term position.

The School are looking for someone who is patient, nurturing and accommodating to all children’s learning needs for this SEND Teaching Assistant position. This SEND Teaching Assistant role will involve keeping the children on task and ensuring that the work they doing is being done to a good standard. You will be responsible for getting resources ready for the day and ensure the children’s needs are being met.

Teaching Assistant- Role & Responsibilities:

  • Promote inclusion and acceptance of all children
  • Support children consistently whilst responding to their individual needs
  • Work with the teacher in lesson planning, evaluating and adjusting lessons/plans as appropriate
  • Deliver catch-up sessions

Teaching Assistant Level- Non-negotiables:

  • Must have recent/relevant experience working with children and young people, within the past two years
  • Must have a passion for education
  • Must possess good numeracy and literacy skills
  • Must have the ability to work under the guidance of the teacher
  • Must be reliable and punctual
