We are seeking a proactive and motivated Deputy Warehouse Manager to support the Warehouse Manager and lead the warehouse team in Wigan.
Location: Wigan Distribution CentreSalary: £30,000 (increasing to £32,000 after successful probation)Job Type: Full-time, PermanentWroking Hours: 39 per week - Monday - Thursday 7:45am - 4:30pm, Friday 8am - 3:30pm
Role Overview:As Deputy Warehouse Manager, you will be based in Goods In, working on the despatch desk within the warehouse, overseeing daily operations and supporting the team to ensure efficiency and accuracy. This role combines administrative responsibilities with team leadership and operational oversight.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the warehouse team in daily operations
- Allocate orders to warehouse operatives and monitor progress
- Use Microsoft Navision to resolve picking and packing issues
- Maintain strong system control and ensure accurate reporting of adjustments
- Manage courier and customer communications via relevant portals
- Oversee all portals for inbound and outbound activity
- Maintain and update warehouse KPI reports to support operational goals
- Monitor shipment statuses and resolve any delays or issues
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth coordination
- Support the Warehouse Manager in planning, training, and performance management
- Step in for the Warehouse Manager when required
- Carry out any additional reasonable tasks as requested by management
Required Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in a warehouse or logistics environment
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent planning and organisational abilities
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Experience with Microsoft Navision is preferred (training provided)
- Strong decision-making skills and ability to work under pressure
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Self-motivated and able to use initiative
