An established food manufacturing business in the Wigan area is currently seeking a QA Technician to join their Quality Assurance team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with QA experience in the food sector who is looking to develop their skills within a dynamic and compliant-driven environment.

This position plays a key role in supporting the QA Supervisor in maintaining high-quality standards across production, ensuring that all products meet customer specifications and comply with UK legislation and relevant food safety standards (including BRC and FSA requirements).

Key Responsibilities as a QA Technician:

  • Maintain accurate records of quality assurance documentation across all departments
  • Ensure full adherence to food safety and quality systems in line with BRC Global Food Standards
  • Complete tasks assigned via the QA Matrix and ad-hoc QA-related duties within agreed timescales
  • Assist in the management of customer complaints, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions
  • Monitor complaint trends and liaise with internal teams and suppliers to resolve recurring issues
  • Support customer audits and site visits by preparing documentation and participating where required
  • Drive continuous improvement in food safety, hygiene, waste reduction, and control of non-conforming products
  • Foster strong working relationships with internal departments, suppliers, and customers

Skills & Attributes:

  • High attention to detail with a methodical approach
  • Strong communication skills - both verbal and written - across all levels of the business
  • Able to prioritise workload and remain calm under pressure
  • Confident working independently as well as part of a team
  • IT literate and comfortable using standard office systems
  • Flexible in approach to both time and tasks

Requirements as a QA Technician:

  • Prior experience in a Quality Assurance role within the food manufacturing industry is essential
  • Ideally qualified to degree level in Food Science or a related discipline
  • HACCP and Food Safety certifications are required
