Are you a dedicated and experienced Social Worker with a passion for supporting children and families through the adoption journey?

We are currently recruiting for a part-time locum Social Worker to join a Recruitment & Assessment Adoption Team in the Wigan area. This is a rewarding opportunity to help shape the lives of children and provide vital support to prospective adopters.

Hours: 29 hours, 4 days per week

Responsibilities:

  • Actively recruit and assess prospective adopters (Stage One & Two)
  • Deliver pre- and post-approval training to adopters
  • Support and supervise adopters in meeting the needs of looked-after children
  • Complete comprehensive assessments, including risk and need
  • Provide services that promote preventative childcare and safeguard children
  • Undertake child protection duties and attend court as required
  • Participate in duty rota as designated by local management
  • Work collaboratively with external agencies involved in the adoption process

To be considered for the role, ideally you will have:

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar setting
  • Qualified Social Worker (BSc or equivalent)
  • Registered with Social Work England
  • Strong experience in adopter recruitment, training, and support
  • Confident working independently and as part of a team
  • Familiarity with multi-agency working within adoption services
