We are currently recruiting on behalf of a supportive and inclusive primary school in Wigan for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them to achieve their potential in a nurturing learning environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide tailored support for pupils with a range of special educational needs, including autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH).



Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN.

  • Assist in the planning and delivery of personalised learning programmes.

  • Implement strategies to support pupil engagement, learning, and behaviour.

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to promote confidence and independence.

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and external agencies.

  • Support pupils in developing social and emotional skills alongside academic progress.

  • Contribute to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.



Requirements

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN (school-based experience desirable).

  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to adapt to different needs and learning styles.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, SEN training) - desirable but not essential.
