SEN Pastoral Support Worker - Wigan , UK

Tradewind are seeking a dedicated and empathetic SEN Pastoral Support Worker to within a number of Alternative Provisions within the Wigan area. You will play a crucial role in providing targeted pastoral and emotional support to students with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them to overcome barriers to learning, promote their well-being, and thrive within our school community in the UK.

Key Responsibilities:* Provide individual and small group pastoral support to students with SEN, focusing on their emotional, social, and behavioural needs.* Work closely with the SENCO, pastoral team, teachers, and parents/carers to develop and implement individualised support plans.* Act as a key point of contact and advocate for students with SEN within the pastoral system.* Support students in managing their emotions, developing coping strategies, and building resilience.* Help students to develop positive relationships with peers and staff.* Implement strategies to promote positive behaviour and address any behavioural challenges in a supportive and consistent manner.* Facilitate social skills groups and other targeted interventions to support the well-being of SEN students.* Liaise with external agencies and support services as needed.* Maintain accurate records of interactions and support provided.* Contribute to the development of a positive and inclusive school culture where the needs of all students are met.* Participate in relevant training and professional development related to SEN and pastoral support in the UK.* Adhere to school policies and procedures, including safeguarding and child protection guidelines in the UK.

About You:* Experience working with children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a pastoral or support role within the UK education system or a similar setting.* A strong understanding of the social, emotional, and behavioural challenges that students with SEN may face.* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers. * Empathy, patience, and a calm and consistent approach.* Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.* Strong problem-solving and de-escalation skills.* A genuine passion for promoting the well-being and inclusion of students with SEN.* Good organisational and record-keeping skills.* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable:* Qualifications or training in pastoral care, counselling, social work, or SEN support within the UK.* Experience developing and implementing pastoral support plans for students with SEN.* Knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance related to SEN and pastoral care in UK schools.* Experience working with specific SEN (e.g., Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs).* Team Teach or similar positive behaviour management training.* A valid DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificate on the update service.
