Our client has an excellent new opportunity for a Microbiology Laboratory Assistant to join their team in carrying out monitoring procedures and to assess the microbiological quality of production facilities and provide support to the microbiology laboratory operations around cleaning, sample movement and reading of plates.

Daily Responsibilities:

Our client will be expecting the successful candidate to:

  • Perform microbiological and physical monitoring of production facilities and equipment;
  • Read agar plates, record and report microbiological results;
  • Perform all laboratory activities safely and to agreed timelines;
  • Monitor and record the temperatures maintained within the microbiology refrigeration and incubation facilities;
  • Keep the microbiology laboratory and associated consumables and equipment clean and tidy to avoid any biohazard or cross-contamination issues;
  • Reading and reporting of media fills;
  • Checking of environmental monitoring data and updating of spreadsheets and reports;
  • Perform any other duties which may be required.

The successful candidate will have minimum A-level Biology or equivalent, excellent communication skills both written and oral, the ability to organise work and meet agreed deadlines, attention to detail and the understanding of what would be expected of working within production facilities.
